Scratch & Coding for Kids

A joyful first step into coding for younger learners — Scratch blocks, sprites, loops, events and building games.

Every child who's curious about how games and apps are made can start coding — and Scratch is the perfect, playful first step. Made by MIT, it lets kids build games and animations by snapping colourful blocks together, learning real programming logic without the frustration of typing syntax.

This hub explains it simply for parents and gives kids fun things to try: what Scratch is, getting started, working with sprites, loops, events and variables — building up to their first game and an animation. We also answer the questions parents ask, like why kids should learn coding and the best age to start.

Everything uses current Scratch 3.0 (the Flash-based old versions are gone).
